Description:

This circular hiking path leads to the top of the Peñalara, their 2.428 m. above sea level making it the highest mountain in the Sierra de Guadarrama.

We started in the parking lot of the Port of Preserves north, towards the Club Alpino. Behind this hostel comes a path marked out with yellow spots in the pines. Following this path, some 300 meter drop, It will stand on the hill that is formed between Peña Citores and Dos Hermanas. We will approach Peña Citores to take advantage of this natural balcony from where an amazing view of the head of the Valley of the Eresma River seen, We observe summits such as the Seven Peaks, Wheat Heap, Dead Woman and more to the north Atalaya. Back to the hill to continue climbing the hill of Dos Hermanas, on a treeless and a gentler slope. We descend slightly to the hill and from here we face the last ramps until we reach the top of Peñalara, the highest peak in the Sierra de Guadarrama with 2.428 meters above sea level. We can descend directly into the lagoon or follow the moraine up the creek drain, we cross to continue along the path that descends along the hillside to the Port of Cotos or El Paular.
